Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care for mothers during active labor
- Perform thorough maternal and neonatal assessments, including postpartum monitoring
- Interpret and manage Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) to support safe outcomes
- Carry out nursery duties and initial newborn care as part of cross-trained responsibilities
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently in OBIX EMR
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and escalate concerns when needed
- Educate and support patients and families through labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery
- Adapt and perform effectively in a small rural department with variable patient volume
Qualifications
- Experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and nursery care — rural healthcare experience a strong plus
- Demonstrated competency with Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- Familiarity with OBIX EMR or willingness to learn quickly
- Strong patient assessment skills and ability to function in a two-person department
- Valid nursing licensure per facility requirements (state licensure/compact status to be discussed)
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — facility-specific requirements will apply
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in maternal and neonatal assessment and clinical decision-making
- Proficient with Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) interpretation and response
- Experience working across Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and nursery roles
- Comfortable using OBIX or similar EMR systems for documentation
- Adaptability, strong teamwork, and excellent communication in a rural hospital setting
