Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled therapeutic interventions under the direction of the supervising physical therapist to help patients regain mobility and independence
- Deliver compassionate, hands-on patient care including therapeutic exercises, gait training, and basic modalities
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to create and implement individualized care plans that drive measurable patient progress
- Document patient status, progress, and interventions accurately and on time in the facility EHR
- Educate patients and families on home programs, safety, and strategies to maintain functional gains
- Participate in team huddles and care planning to ensure coordinated, high-quality rehabilitation services
Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in North Carolina or eligible to obtain state licensure
- Graduation from an accredited PTA program
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain prior to start
- Minimum clinical experience preferred; new grads from accredited programs are welcome to apply
- Immunizations and background check clearance as required by the facility
- Strong communication skills, professionalism, and a patient-centered approach
Education
- Associate degree or graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in therapeutic exercise, gait training, transfers, and adaptive equipment use
- Comfortable with functional mobility assessments and documenting outcomes
- Ability to follow treatment plans and progress patients per the supervising PT
- Proficient with clinical documentation and basic facility EHR systems
- Strong teamwork, time management, and patient education skills
