Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality progressive care to adult patients, prioritizing safety and attentive monitoring
• Perform focused neuro and spinal checks, recognizing changes quickly and acting decisively
• Administer and manage IV infusions, PCA pumps, blood transfusions and complex therapies
• Manage chest tubes, tracheostomies and feeding tube placements with precision and compassion
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
• Document care accurately in Cerner and communicate clear handoffs to ensure continuity
• Educate patients and families about care plans, recovery milestones and safe transitions

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (compact or state-specific as required for assignment)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience — PCU, stepdown or med-surg experience preferred
• Experience in neuro and trauma care, including neuro checks and spinal precautions
• Comfortable with Cerner or similar EMR systems
• Ability to manage higher-acuity patient ratios and work effectively in a fast-paced team

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment skills with emphasis on neurologic and hemodynamic monitoring
• Proficiency with IV pumps, PCA pumps, chest tubes, trachs and feeding tube management
• Competence in blood transfusion procedures and infusion therapies
• Familiarity with patient lifts and safe mobility techniques
• Clear clinical communication and effective handoff practices
• Team-oriented mindset and patient-focused bedside manner
