Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: Day 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM and Night 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM; rotating schedule that includes every other weekend and every third holiday (shift type: rotating day/night)

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to adults and geriatric patients in the PCU/Stepdown setting
- Continuously monitor cardiac and EEG parameters and respond promptly to clinical changes
- Safely titrate IV drips (e.g., Cardizem, beta blockers, seizure meds) following unit protocols
- Perform thorough assessments, document in EPIC, and develop clear nursing care plans
- Collaborate with charge nurses, interdisciplinary team members, and support staff to coordinate patient care
- Float to medical floors, ICU, or rehab as needed while maintaining unit standards
- Mentor and communicate effectively with patient care techs to ensure safe patient assignments and timely care
- Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving to manage a fast-paced workload and complex patients
Qualifications
- Active RN license eligible for practice in Nebraska (required)
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience (PCU/Stepdown experience preferred)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (required prior to or at orientation)
- Experience with IV drip titration and cardiac monitoring; familiarity with continuous EEG monitoring a plus
- Driver's license required at submittal and must meet the 50-mile radius rule
- Willingness to complete orientation, pass an open-book skills exam (90% required), and adhere to unit policies (e.g., fingernail policy)
Education
- Active RN license (required); BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong proficiency with EPIC charting system
- Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation and continuous EEG observation
- Competent in titrating and managing common vasoactive and seizure medications
- Excellent critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working with adult and geriatric populations and common diagnoses such as cardiac issues, nephrology, stroke, and diabetes
- Ability to work within a 1:4-5 RN ratio and coordinate care with patient care techs
