Roles & Responsibilities

Process, decontaminate, assemble, sterilize and store surgical instruments and equipment with precision
Inspect instruments and trays for cleanliness, function and completeness to protect patient safety
Follow established sterilization protocols and infection control policies every day
Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, supplies and equipment maintenance
Collaborate with surgical teams and central sterile colleagues to support smooth OR workflows
Support inventory management by tracking supplies and reporting replenishment needs

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required
Previous experience in sterile processing or central sterile is preferred
Certification such as CRCST or CBSPD is preferred or supported
Strong attention to detail and commitment to infection prevention practices
Ability to stand for extended periods and handle moderately heavy instruments
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a fast-paced team

Education

High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a sterile processing program or postsecondary certificate recommended

Knowledge & Skills

Working knowledge of sterilization methods, autoclave operation and sterilization indicators
Familiarity with surgical instruments, tray assembly and instrument function
Understanding of infection control principles and sterile technique
Basic computer skills for record-keeping and logging sterilization cycles
Strong organizational skills and an eye for detail
