Roles & Responsibilities

• Independently manage and coordinate care for up to 5 Med-Surg/Ortho patients with professional judgment and compassion
• Provide expert post-operative and orthopedic nursing care, including dressing changes and aspiration as needed
• Administer and monitor pain management plans, ensuring patient comfort and safety
• Document assessments, interventions and care plans accurately in Meditech EMR
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to drive positive patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families on post-op care, discharge instructions and recovery milestones
• Prioritize patient safety, infection control and unit protocols during every shift
• Contribute to a positive unit culture through teamwork, clear communication and a patient-centered attitude

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) credential
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (per job posting)
• Clinical experience on a surgical or Med‑Surg unit — must be able to independently manage 5 patients
• Experience with Meditech EMR (documenting and charting confidently)
• Orthopedic and pain management experience preferred — highly desired
• Comfort working 12-hour night shifts on a fast-paced unit
• Positive attitude, strong teamwork skills and excellent communication

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of Med-Surg and orthopedic nursing practices
• Wound care and post-operative dressing change competency
• Pain management strategies for post-op orthopedic patients
• Proficient clinical documentation in Meditech EMR
• Ability to triage, prioritize and manage multiple patients safely
• Strong interpersonal skills for patient/family education and team collaboration
