Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents during the night shift
• Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and toileting
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
• Record resident care and observations accurately and timely in charts or electronic systems
• Support fall prevention, safety protocols, and proper infection control practices
• Create a calm, respectful environment that preserves residents' dignity and comfort
• Work collaboratively with nurses, therapists, and family members to support resident well-being

Qualifications

• Valid Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required by facility
• State-required registration or licensure for Maryland if applicable
• Successful background check and up-to-date immunizations as required by facility
• Comfortable working night shift hours and supporting a diverse resident population
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GNA certification or completion of an approved nursing assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care needs, including dementia and memory support
• Familiarity with infection control, PPE use, and safe hygiene practices
• Basic vital signs monitoring and documentation skills
• Experience with resident transfers and safe lifting techniques
• Clear, compassionate communication with residents and family members
• Reliable time management and attention to detail for accurate charting
