Roles & Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate high-quality nursing care for day surgery patients (Preop and Phase II).
• Provide compassionate, evidence-based patient assessment, monitoring, and teaching.
• Lead and collaborate with the perioperative team to ensure smooth patient flow and safety.
• Support the EMR transition from Meditech to Epic by learning and championing new workflows.
• Participate in shared governance and unit-based decision-making to improve care delivery.
• Respond to evening and weekend on-call needs, providing clinical leadership and support.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with ANA standards and hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Current Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Graduate of an accredited or state board–approved Registered/Professional Nursing program
• Minimum 3 years of RN nursing experience
• Experience in PACU and/or CCU and familiarity with day surgery, Preop, and Phase II care
• Epic experience preferred; experience with Meditech and EMR migrations is a plus
• BLS, ACLS and PALS from the American Heart Association — card in hand before start date
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions) and ability to comply with facility health policies
• Available for evening and weekend call rotations

Education

• Graduate of an accredited or state board–approved Registered/Professional Nursing program

Knowledge & Skills

• Preop assessment and Phase II (post-anesthesia) care
• Day surgery workflow and patient education for same-day procedures
• Post-anesthesia monitoring, recognition of complications, and escalation
• Experience with Epic and/or Meditech electronic medical records
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills
• Familiarity with shared governance and unit-based quality improvement
• Ability to triage, prioritize, and lead in a fast-paced surgical environment
