Roles & Responsibilities

Perform sonographic examinations of all body parts for diagnostic interpretation
Exercise professional judgement in performance of procedures applying principles of radiation protection
Maintain patient records and files
Assume responsibility for departmental quality assurance program
Pursue continuing education

Qualifications

Current ARDMS certification in one category
1 year of experience in sonography
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Education

ARDMS certification in sonography

Knowledge & Skills

Sonographic examination
Diagnostic medical sonography
Patient records maintenance
Quality assurance program
Continuing education
Radiation protection
Professional judgement
Communication with referring physicians
