Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing and toileting
- Take and record vital signs and report changes in condition promptly
- Help with meal service, feeding assistance and monitoring intake as needed
- Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics
- Document care in resident records accurately and timely
- Collaborate with nursing staff and the care team to follow care plans
Qualifications
- GNA certification (required or preferred depending on facility policies)
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred
- Demonstrated experience working with older adults or in long-term care is a plus
- Ability to pass background check and any required health screenings
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate attitude toward residents
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification or completion of an approved nursing assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic geriatric care and common conditions affecting older adults
- Skill in assisting with ADLs and safe resident transfers
- Ability to measure and record vital signs accurately
- Basic charting and documentation skills
- Infection control and hand hygiene practices
- Teamwork, reliability and strong interpersonal skills
