Shift Type: Rotating day shifts (3x12-hour), typical shift windows: 5:00 AM - 5:30 PM and 8:00 AM - 8:30 PM; shifts rotate between opener and closer; includes call and weekend coverage (every 3rd-4th weekend)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $57 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform thorough pre-operative assessments and pre-op education to ensure patients are ready and informed
- Provide focused PACU care: monitor vital signs, manage airways, and support smooth recovery from anesthesia
- Manage invasive lines and monitoring devices including arterial lines, central lines, PICCs and Swan-Ganz when indicated
- Administer IV therapy, blood products and emergency medications with precision and safety
- Recognize and treat dysrhythmias and other cardiac events; respond to codes and participate in CPR
- Assess and manage pain effectively while coordinating multimodal analgesia
- Provide chest tube care and respiratory support including ABG interpretation when needed
- Document comprehensively in Epic and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for seamless patient-centered care
- Teach patients and families pre- and post-procedure instructions to promote successful recoveries
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Ohio (required)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (required)
- Experience in Pre/Post Op care (required) and Epic charting experience (required)
- BLS required; ACLS preferred; NIHSS preferred
- PACU experience, Phase I PACU experience, and Level I Trauma experience are preferred
- Previous charge experience is a plus
- Ability to work rotating 12-hour day shifts, participate in call, and cover every 3rd–4th weekend
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
- Completion of unit orientation (40 hours) prior to independent practice
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition/management
- Arterial line, central line and PICC line care and management
- Pulmonary artery (Swan-Ganz) monitoring
- IV therapy, phlebotomy and blood product administration
- Airway assessment, chest tube management and basic ventilatory support
- Interpretation of 12-lead EKGs and arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Familiarity with perioperative procedures (CABG, TAVR, EVAR, vascular bypasses, angiograms, ablation)
- Experience with Pre/Post Op assessment, consent processes and patient education
- Comfortable administering antiarrhythmics, anticoagulation, vasopressors and emergency medications
- Skilled in isolation precautions, PPE use, and working within a teaching hospital environment
