Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living
• Support safe transfers and mobility while using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to the nursing team
• Assist with feeding, bathing, dressing and toileting while preserving dignity and independence
• Accurately document care delivered and observations in the resident record
• Work closely with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to promote resident comfort and quality of life

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
• Completion of a recognized GNA training program or equivalent experience
• Basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or as required by the facility
• Ability to pass background checks, TB screening and any facility onboarding requirements
• Comfort working nights and collaborating with a multidisciplinary care team
• Compassionate bedside manner and strong communication skills

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of elder care principles and activities of daily living
• Familiarity with infection control and resident safety practices
• Ability to take and record vital signs and report changes
• Good observational skills and clear verbal/written communication
• Teamwork and time management in a fast-paced long-term care setting
• Respect for resident rights, privacy and cultural needs
