Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Support safe transfers and mobility while using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to the nursing team
- Assist with feeding, bathing, dressing and toileting while preserving dignity and independence
- Accurately document care delivered and observations in the resident record
- Work closely with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to promote resident comfort and quality of life
Qualifications
- Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
- Completion of a recognized GNA training program or equivalent experience
- Basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or as required by the facility
- Ability to pass background checks, TB screening and any facility onboarding requirements
- Comfort working nights and collaborating with a multidisciplinary care team
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong communication skills
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of elder care principles and activities of daily living
- Familiarity with infection control and resident safety practices
- Ability to take and record vital signs and report changes
- Good observational skills and clear verbal/written communication
- Teamwork and time management in a fast-paced long-term care setting
- Respect for resident rights, privacy and cultural needs
