Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care across medical and surgical units as a Flex RN
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care; prioritize safety and positive outcomes
• Manage wound VACs, chest tubes, and complex post-op or medical-surgical needs with confidence
• Administer medications using Pyxis and document thoroughly in Meditech EMR
• Float between Medical, Laulima (surgical acute) and occasionally Cardiovascular units as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and smooth transitions
• Support unit staffing needs during nights and respond to changes in acuity with sound clinical judgment

Qualifications

• Active Hawaii RN license required by start of assignment (candidates not holding a State of HI license must apply upon acceptance)
• Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of 2 years clinical experience (position notes 2–10 years’ experience preferred)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC are preferred
• Comfort and experience in medical-surgical nursing and floating between units
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and adapt to rotating schedules, including weekends

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical-surgical nursing principles and patient assessment
• Experience with Meditech EMR for charting and orders
• Medication administration workflows with Pyxis
• Wound VAC management and chest tube care
• Prioritization, multitasking, and clear clinical communication during night shifts
• Familiarity with nurse-to-patient ratios and managing acuity changes
