Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents, honoring dignity and preferences
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting
• Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output, and other observations accurately
• Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Communicate changes in resident condition promptly to nursing staff and document interventions
• Help create a calm, comfortable night environment that promotes rest and safety
• Participate in care planning and teamwork to deliver consistent, high-quality care

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification required (Maryland or eligible for Maryland certification)
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Clear background check and up-to-date immunizations/TB screening as required by facility
• Comfortable working independently on overnight shifts and collaborating with nursing staff
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of resident-centered care and geriatric needs
• Ability to take and document vital signs and report concerns clearly
• Familiarity with infection control practices and safe handling of linens and equipment
• Good communication and teamwork skills with residents, families and clinical staff
• Basic charting and documentation skills, attention to detail
• Patience and empathy for residents with cognitive or mobility challenges
