Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care for MedSurg and Telemetry patients
• Interpret ECG/telemetry strips and respond promptly to cardiac changes
• Administer and titrate IV drips such as heparin and amiodarone safely and accurately
• Float between MedSurg, Telemetry and ED Holds as needed while maintaining competency
• Deliver bedside shift report to enhance patient experience and continuity of care
• Assume charge nurse duties as assigned, coordinating resources and assignments
• Collaborate closely with respiratory therapy and pharmacy for 24/7 support
• Precept new staff during orientation shifts and contribute to a positive learning environment

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (Telemetry or MedSurg experience preferred)
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS. NIHSS required.
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Comfortable managing telemetry patients, reading strips, and administering IV drips
• Able to work 12-hour night shifts, every-other-weekend, and float between units
• Dependable, punctual, and committed to excellent patient experience and bedside reporting

Education

• Active RN license in California
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with Cerner electronic medical record charting
• Skilled in ECG/telemetry strip interpretation and arrhythmia recognition
• Experience with IV drips (heparin, amiodarone, blood products) and safe medication administration
• Familiarity with MedSurg and post-op surgical patient care (bariatrics, ortho, spine)
• Comfortable with non-invasive ventilatory support such as BiPAP and CPAP; telemetry stepdown may involve vents
• Strong communication skills for bedside shift report and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Ability to function as charge nurse or resource RN when assigned
