Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room with precision — ensure instruments, supplies, and sterile fields are ready before incision
• Assist the surgical team during procedures by anticipating needs, passing instruments, and maintaining a safe sterile environment
• Perform instrument counts and document accurately to support patient safety
• Operate and troubleshoot basic OR equipment and instrumentation with care
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia to optimize workflow and patient outcomes
• Respond to call assignments and provide dependable coverage for urgent cases

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA (required)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience (OR experience preferred)
• Comfortable with trauma, orthopedics, vascular, and general surgery cases
• Willingness to participate in call schedule and every-other-weekend rotation

Education

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent training
• High school diploma or GED required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong working knowledge of sterile technique and OR instrumentation
• Experience charting in Cerner or similar electronic health records
• Ability to prioritize tasks in high-acuity surgical settings
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in the perioperative environment
• Familiarity with trauma and specialty surgical workflows (Ortho, Vascular, General)
