Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct and indirect patient care grounded in a trauma-informed recovery model
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu and model therapeutic communication with patients and families
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team to develop, implement, and document individualized care plans
• Manage crisis situations with de-escalation techniques and restraint-reduction strategies when needed
• Assume charge duties as assigned and support unit staffing as a float nurse
• Accurately document care and interventions in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
• Coach, delegate, and support colleagues to maintain high-quality, patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Massachusetts (required)
• Minimum 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience (inpatient/substance use experience preferred)
• CPR certification (required)
• Willingness to float across units and take on charge responsibilities
• Experience with restraint reduction, crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques (preferred)
• Comfortable using Electronic Medical Records and basic typing/computer skills
• Strong communication, time management, delegating, coaching, and team-building abilities

Education

• Active RN license in Massachusetts required; BSN preferred

• Psychiatric nursing and behavioral health treatment modalities
• Trauma-informed recovery model and therapeutic communication
• Crisis management, de-escalation, and restraint-reduction techniques
• Multidisciplinary teamwork and care planning

This is a travel/contract role based in Holyoke, MA — a great home base for exploring Western Massachusetts.
