Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients on the MS Stroke Stepdown unit and deliver high-quality, focused nursing care
• Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition, especially stroke and pulmonary concerns
• Administer treatments and medications safely while following isolation and dialysis protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Document patient assessments, interventions and progress accurately and promptly
• Provide compassionate patient and family education about diagnoses and recovery plans
• Support unit flow by floating to related med-surg areas as needed
• Practice infection control and unit-specific precautions, including managing isolation patients

Qualifications

• RN with med-surg experience (position title indicates RN role)
• Comfortable working the night shift schedule (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM) and covering 36 hours/week
• Experience caring for stroke, renal/dialysis, pulmonary and general med-surg patients is highly desirable
• Ability to float to other units as required and adapt to changing assignments
• Professional, team-oriented mindset and strong communication/documentation skills
• Willingness to follow unit requirements such as scrub color (navy blue) and facility policies

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with stroke and stepdown patient needs and monitoring
• Experience with renal issues and dialysis patient care
• Knowledge of pulmonary conditions (COPD, pneumonia) and CHF management
• Comfort with isolation precautions and infection control procedures
• Solid med-surg clinical assessment and patient monitoring skills
• Effective teamwork, prioritization and time management during night shift
