Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient orthopedic consults and perform thorough History & Physical evaluations
• Round daily with the team to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity
• Support orthopedic surgeons on call and assist with coordination of care when PAs are out
• Act as first assist in surgical cases as needed to support operative efficiency
• Document care accurately and promptly in Epic following site-specific workflows
• Work independently in a high-acuity, Level I trauma inpatient setting while collaborating with the broader care team

Qualifications

• Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) or eligible for NP credentialing
• Clinical experience in orthopedics and inpatient/trauma care (experience assisting in surgery is a plus)
• Epic EMR experience — please include years of Epic use and most recent facility when submitting
• Able to complete required pre-application and EMR modules and attend virtual Epic training prior to the first day
• Comfortable working independently in a busy inpatient environment and supporting surgeon coverage
• Willingness to travel and stay in one of the site’s preferred hotels for the assignment

Education

• Nurse Practitioner certification/degree (Master’s or Doctoral level preferred) and NP credentialing

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of orthopedic inpatient care, consult workflows, and H&P documentation
• Proficiency with Epic (documentation, order entry, clinical workflows)
• Surgical assisting / first assist skills and familiarity with perioperative processes
• Effective communication and interdisciplinary coordination skills
• Ability to prioritize care in a Level I trauma setting
