Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess speech, language, cognition-communication, and swallowing function using evidence-based tools
• Develop individualized treatment plans that target meaningful functional outcomes
• Deliver skilled therapy and adapt interventions to each patient’s goals and progress
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, physicians, and families to coordinate comprehensive care
• Document assessments, goals, and progress in the medical record accurately and timely
• Provide family and caregiver education to support carryover and safe discharge planning
• Participate in team meetings and contribute clinical expertise to optimize patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)
• Current or eligible for Virginia state SLP license
• ASHA CCC-SLP preferred
• Experience in inpatient rehabilitation or post-acute care preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team
• Active professional liability insurance or ability to obtain if required, and up-to-date immunizations/background checks as facility policy requires

Education

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in standardized and functional assessment techniques for speech, language, cognition, and swallowing
• Skilled in developing evidence-based treatment plans and measurable goals
• Comfortable with clinical documentation and electronic medical records
• Ability to train and educate families and caregivers effectively
• Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage caseload and prioritize care
