Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to residents, assisting with daily living activities
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Support safe transfers and use proper body mechanics during resident handling
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care and resident observations
- Help with meal assistance, feeding, and hydration monitoring when needed
- Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment for residents at all times
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (required)
- Active CNA credential in the state of Maine or ability to obtain prior to start
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass background checks, TB screening, and any facility-required health checks
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; a caring attitude
- Previous experience in long-term care or similar healthcare settings is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; CNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and resident care best practices
- Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
- Infection prevention and control principles
- Basic charting and documentation skills; familiarity with electronic records a plus
- Time management, teamwork, and a patient-centered approach to care
