Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral catheterizations to help diagnose and treat vascular conditions
• Prepare patients and set up procedure rooms, ensuring documentation and consents are complete before procedures begin
• Operate fluoroscopy/X-ray equipment accurately and independently while maintaining radiation safety compliance
• Obtain hemostasis safely after procedures and support post-procedure patient care
• Document procedures accurately in the MacLab system and maintain clear procedural records
• Perform procedure room turnover following infection control protocols to maintain a safe environment
• Administer intra-coronary medications per unit policies under appropriate supervision
• Engage in continuing education, maintain required certifications, and pursue specialty certification (RCIS)

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Radiologic Sciences OR graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program (required)
• RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) required if graduate of Cardiovascular Technology program; ARRT (RT) required if graduate of Radiologic Technologist program (obtain within required timeframe if not already held)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) required (can be obtained within 90 days if needed)
• Eighteen (18) months experience in diagnostic radiology OR completion of an accredited radiologic/cardiovascular program with recommendation letters
• Preferred: Two (2) years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience including diagnostic, interventional, and electrophysiology procedures; prior EP or interventional lab experience a plus

Education

• Associate Degree in Radiologic Sciences OR graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program (required)
• Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or Cardiovascular Technology preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac catheterization and peripheral vascular procedure techniques
• Patient preparation, catheter placement and procedural workflow
• Fluoroscopy/X-ray operation and strict radiation safety practices
• MacLab procedure documentation and electronic charting
• Hemostasis techniques and post-procedure patient monitoring
• Procedure room turnover, infection control and sterile technique
• Comfort working in a fast-paced cath lab environment and supporting interdisciplinary teams
• Familiarity with electrophysiology and interventional lab equipment and procedures
