Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding)
- Support mobility and safe transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly and accurately
- Document care activities and observations clearly and timely in resident records
- Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment for residents and visitors
- Assist with meal service, hydration, and mealtime assistance as needed
- Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies to protect residents and staff
- Collaborate with the care team to deliver resident-centered care and improve quality of life
Qualifications
- Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential — required
- Completion of an accredited CNA training program
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable assisting with mobility and personal care tasks; ability to stand and move throughout a shift
- Strong communication skills and a teamwork mindset
- Background check and any facility-required screenings/clearances as part of onboarding
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an accredited CNA training program (required for certification)
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic patient care techniques and ADL assistance
- Vital signs measurement and recording
- Safe transfer and positioning practices
- Accurate documentation and charting fundamentals
- Infection prevention and control measures
- Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
- Familiarity with long-term care or skilled nursing environments is a plus
