Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality orthopedic nursing care to adults on J6 Orthopedics
• Perform dressing changes and remove sutures or staples with precision
• Manage Foley catheters and provide appropriate catheter care
• Insert, monitor and manage NG tubes safely and effectively
• Maintain and remove Wound Vac systems and monitor wound healing
• Document patient status and care thoroughly using Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to create and implement patient-centered plans of care
• Assist with patient mobility using lifts, CPMs and other safe-handling equipment
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and discharge goals

Qualifications

• Active NC Registered Nurse license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (hospital/orthopedic experience preferred)
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR or similar electronic charting systems
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and floating to other Med-Surg units

Knowledge & Skills

• Orthopedic nursing knowledge including post-op care and mobility management
• Wound care expertise, including Wound Vac maintenance
• Proficiency with Foley catheter and NG tube management
• Strong documentation skills in Cerner EMR
• Experience with safe patient handling equipment (lifts, Sara Stedy, CPM)
• Ability to work with standard patient ratios and adapt during stretches
• Excellent communication and patient education skills
