Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform focused neuro and spinal checks and document findings accurately
• Manage and monitor IV infusions, PCA pumps and complex infusion therapies
• Provide hands-on care for chest tubes, tracheostomies and feeding tube placements
• Administer and monitor blood transfusions safely and per protocol
• Assist with C-collar placement and TLSO brace management for trauma patients
• Use patient lifts and safe handling equipment to ensure safe mobility and transfers
• Chart thoroughly and efficiently in Cerner to maintain continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to deliver patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid for practice in North Carolina or appropriate compact privileges
• Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience (PCU, neuro or trauma experience strongly preferred)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• NIHSS certification required
• Hands-on experience with chest tubes, trachs, feeding tube placement and blood transfusion procedures
• Comfortable using Cerner or similar EMR systems

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong neuro assessment skills and familiarity with NIHSS scoring
• Proficiency with IV pumps, PCA pumps and infusion management
• Experience with chest tube and tracheostomy care
• Skill with safe patient handling equipment including patient lifts and Skylift
• Ability to perform spinal checks and assist with C-collar and TLSO brace care
• Effective communication and teamwork in high-acuity progressive care settings
• Basic computer and Cerner EMR documentation skills
