Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct patient care and assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding)
- Take and accurately record vital signs and report any changes to the nursing team
- Assist with safe patient transfers and mobility using proper techniques
- Document care and patient observations clearly and timely in the medical record
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to support individualized care plans
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by following infection control and safety procedures
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (active in Virginia or eligible to transfer)
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification recommended
- Compassionate demeanor, strong communication skills, and a team-player attitude
- Previous experience in long-term care or similar settings is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; CNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in basic patient care and assistance with ADLs
- Proficient in measuring and documenting vital signs
- Knowledge of safe patient handling and infection control practices
- Familiarity with electronic health records or willingness to learn
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
