Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and support to geriatric residents
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and toileting
- Perform safe transfer and mobility assistance to reduce fall risk
- Observe, document, and report resident condition changes to nursing staff
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure comfortable dining experiences
- Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment for residents
- Collaborate with the care team to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Active Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification (required)
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
- Current immunizations and TB testing per facility policy
- Ability to work night shifts and handle physical demands of care
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- GNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and dignity-focused support
- Basic nursing assistant skills including ADL assistance and safe transfers
- Strong observational skills and accurate documentation
- Good communication and teamwork with nurses, residents, and families
- Knowledge of infection control practices and resident safety
- Comfort with electronic or paper-based charting systems
