Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate daily care to residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Aid with mealtime assistance and feeding when needed
• Observe and report changes in residents’ condition to nursing staff promptly
• Accurately document care provided and resident observations in charts
• Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment for residents
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to deliver person-centered care

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatrics is a plus
• Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Clear background check and up-to-date immunizations as required by facility
• Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-centered attitude

Education

• Completion of an accredited Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or equivalent
• High school diploma or GED preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of geriatric care principles and resident dignity
• Comfortable with ADLs, transfers, and basic mobility assistance
• Good observational skills to notice subtle changes in residents’ conditions
• Basic charting and documentation abilities
• Teamwork mindset and effective communication with residents and staff
• Ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced situations
