Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor behavioral health patients to develop timely, patient-centered care plans
• Use evidence-based de-escalation techniques to keep patients and staff safe
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in EPIC
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate treatment and discharge planning
• Administer medications and treatments according to policy and provider orders
• Provide compassionate education and support to patients and their families
• Maintain unit safety and therapeutic milieu for adult and geriatric populations
• Demonstrate reliability and professional attendance to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active New York RN license (must be uploaded with submission)
• Minimum 2+ years of Behavioral Health unit experience
• Recent travel nursing experience required
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• De-escalation training required (CPI or NAPPI/Welle)
• EPIC experience is required and must be listed on profile
• Traveler must have own vehicle
• Current Nursys verification and a supervisory signed reference from within the past two years

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong behavioral health nursing and crisis intervention skills
• Patient de-escalation and verbal intervention techniques
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records
• Ability to manage 1:9 RN to patient ratio depending on census
• Skilled at working with adult and geriatric patient populations (experience with pediatric and adolescent patients a plus)
• Excellent communication, documentation, and teamwork skills
• Ability to meet strict compliance and profile upload requirements, including 14-panel drug screen capability
