Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct patient care for general surgical and orthopedic patients, including medication administration and treatments
• Regularly assess patient needs and deliver skilled nursing interventions per the physician authorized plan of care
• Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and collaborate with the team to update and improve care
• Process and follow up on physician/provider orders accurately and in a timely manner
• Delegate appropriate tasks to patient care technicians while maintaining safe standards of care
• Respond promptly to alarms, call lights and patient needs to ensure a safe environment
• Maintain compliance with local, state and federal regulations and facility policies

Qualifications

• Active Michigan RN license required (LARA and/or Nursys verification required)
• Minimum 2+ years Med Surg experience required
• Active American Heart Association BLS required
• Active American Heart Association ACLS required
• Epic experience highly preferred
• Travel work experience highly preferred
• Two supervisory references completed within the last two years
• Current skills checklist pertinent to Med Surg within the last year

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid medical-surgical nursing fundamentals for general surgical and orthopedic patients
• Patient assessment and skilled nursing assessment techniques
• Safe medication administration and documentation
• Treatment plan evaluation and care coordination
• Delegation and supervision of patient care technicians
• Physician order processing and clinical follow-up
• Familiarity with Epic electronic medical record
