Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality labor and delivery nursing care throughout the childbirth process
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using advanced fetal heart monitoring techniques
• Perform neonatal resuscitation and provide immediate newborn stabilization when needed
• Support breastfeeding and implement Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative practices to promote successful lactation
• Assist with C-section care and post-operative management in collaboration with the surgical team
• Serve as a charge nurse when trained, coordinating patient flow and supporting the nursing team
• Float to other departments when qualified, contributing wherever patient needs are highest
• Document care accurately and communicate effectively with families and interdisciplinary teams

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum of 5 years recent experience in Labor & Delivery or related specialty
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification
• Current ACLS OR ALSO certification
• Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• AWHONN Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring certification required; RNC-EFM accepted as a substitute
• Comfortable providing breastfeeding support and rooming-in care

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong labor and delivery clinical skills and maternal-newborn assessment
• Proficiency in fetal heart monitoring and interpretation
• Neonatal resuscitation and newborn stabilization skills
• Postpartum care and C-section postop management
• Breastfeeding support and BFHI practices
• Clear communication, patient advocacy, and teamwork
• Ability to adapt to varying unit needs and float to other areas when required
