Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating shifts (day and night). Monday-Friday: 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM; 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM; 12:00 PM - 10:00 PM; 4:00 PM - 2:00 AM; 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM. Saturday-Sunday: 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM; 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM; 4:00 PM - 2:00 AM; 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM. Shift type: rotating (day/night).
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $245 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality emergency care for adults, children and newborns in a high-volume ED
- Supervise and mentor APPs and residents while ensuring safe, effective patient care
- Perform and interpret ED procedures including central and arterial lines, EKGs, arthrocentesis, lumbar puncture, paracentesis, suturing and I&D
- Manage airways and ventilatory strategies and provide ventilation management when needed
- Evaluate and manage acute volume and blood pressure issues; provide uncomplicated psychiatric evaluations
- Participate in Level 3 trauma care and coordinate timely transfers or admissions with hospitalists
- Document care and place orders using the Cerner EHR and follow site-specific workflows (DocTime timeclock for shift tracking)
- Support fast-track operations as needed to keep patient flow moving
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree and completion of an accredited residency (Emergency Medicine preferred)
- Board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine or equivalent
- Active Michigan medical license or ability to obtain state licensure
- Current newborn resuscitation certification (NRP) and basic life support (BLS); ACLS recommended
- Demonstrated procedural competency in ED procedures (central line, arterial line, suturing, LP, paracentesis, etc.)
- Experience supervising APPs and residents and working in high-volume emergency departments
- Comfortable using Cerner EHR and site timeclock (DocTime) workflows
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with nursing and hospitalist teams
Education
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Completion of residency training in Emergency Medicine or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Airway and ventilation management, including various modes of ventilation
- EKG interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
- Emergency medicine procedural skills: central/arterial lines, arthrocentesis, lumbar puncture, paracentesis
- Minor wound care: suturing of lacerations, incision and drainage
- Orthopedic fracture management for non-displaced injuries
- Evaluation and management of acute volume and blood pressure issues
- Uncomplicated psychiatric evaluation and disposition
- Experience in fast-track workflows and high-volume ED operations
