Shift Type: PRN/variable schedule (includes weekdays and weekends), rotating shifts including days and nights: 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM; 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM; 2:00 PM - 12:00 AM; 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM. Shift assignments vary by date and are offered through June 2026.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency care for adult, pediatric, and newborn patients in an onsite ED setting
• Evaluate and manage acute medical and traumatic presentations with sound clinical decision making
• Perform emergency procedures such as suturing, incision and drainage, arthrocentesis, central and arterial line management, lumbar puncture, and paracentesis
• Lead airway management and ventilation strategies, including short-term use of various ventilation modes
• Interpret EKGs rapidly and use findings to guide emergent care
• Resuscitate newborns and provide urgent pediatric airway and stabilization when required
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Cerner
• Collaborate with nursing, APPs, radiology, and lab services to ensure smooth patient flow

Qualifications

• MD or DO (or equivalent) with training in Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine with strong ED experience
• Board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine or relevant specialty
• Active or eligible state medical license (Michigan preferred) and ability to credential locally in a timely manner
• Proven competence with emergency procedures listed in the job details
• Comfortable managing adult, pediatric, and newborn emergencies
• Experience with Cerner EHR preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team-based ED environment
• Prior locum or PRN experience is a plus

Education

• MD or DO (or equivalent)
• Residency training in Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine with EM experience preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency Medicine clinical decision making across adult, pediatric, and newborn populations
• Airway and ventilation management, including short-term advanced ventilation modes
• Central line and arterial line placement and management
• EKG interpretation and application to acute care
• Procedural skills: suturing, incision and drainage, arthrocentesis, lumbar puncture, paracentesis
• Management of non-displaced orthopedic fractures
• Newborn resuscitation and neonatal stabilization
• Familiarity with Cerner EHR for charting and order entry
• Ability to manage occupational and industrial-related medical issues
