Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver independent, high-quality patient care in the Fast Track (VUE) area of the Emergency Department
• Assess, diagnose, treat and disposition a broad range of urgent and emergent conditions
• Document thoroughly and efficiently using Cerner EMR to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with attending physicians, residents and nursing staff to optimize patient flow and throughput
• Initiate admissions orders and coordinate with inpatient teams and house officers when hospital admission is needed
• Follow transfer and triage protocols to appropriate referral centers for pediatrics, stroke, and trauma
• Use DocTime for timekeeping and adhere to departmental policies and credentialing requirements
• Contribute to a safe, patient-centered environment and participate in quality improvement efforts

Qualifications

• Active NP or PA licensure (eligible to practice in Michigan)
• Board Certified (required) in your NP/PA specialty
• Demonstrated experience in Emergency Medicine or Fast Track/urgent care settings
• Comfortable with independent practice in an ED setting and making disposition decisions
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR (documenting, orders, and workflow)
• Familiarity with triage/transfer protocols, admissions processes and working with residents
• Current immunizations and documentation required for occupational health: Hep B (series or titer), MMR, Varicella (vaccine or titer), annual flu (current season), COVID documentation, TB within 12 months, TDAP within 10 years

Education

• Graduate degree appropriate to role (NP: MSN/DNP or equivalent; PA: Master’s or advanced degree)
• Board Certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making in high-volume emergency settings
• Fast Track management and efficient throughput in a 10-bed VUE area
• Triage, transfer, and admission protocols for ED patients
• Clear, timely clinical documentation in Cerner EMR
• Effective collaboration with physicians, residents and multidisciplinary teams
• Timekeeping familiarity with DocTime and adhering to shift policies
• Ability to prioritize in a busy ED with peak volumes in the afternoon
