Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in Med/Surgical and Telemetry settings
• Float confidently between units of equivalent or lower acuity to meet staffing needs
• Monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to support rapid response and code teams
• Start and manage IV access and assist with central and PICC line care as needed
• Manage patient assignments at ratios typically around 1:4-5 while maintaining safety
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including PT, respiratory, pharmacy, and rapid response
• Assist with specialty procedures such as chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and post-op neuro monitoring
• Document accurately in EPIC to ensure continuity of care and clear communication

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Med/Surgical setting
• Current BCLS certification required; ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS preferred
• Proficient in IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and EPIC electronic health record use
• Comfortable floating between units and managing adult and geriatric patient populations
• Ability to handle patient ratios of approximately 1:4-5 while maintaining organization and attention to detail
• Travel experience is required for this contract position
• Flu vaccine required per facility guideline (medical exemptions allowed)

Knowledge & Skills

• Med/Surgical nursing fundamentals and telemetry monitoring
• IV therapy, peripheral IV starts, and PICC/central line awareness
• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response familiarity
• Tracheostomy care, non-invasive airway management, and ABG interpretation
• Chest tube management and experience with CPAP/BIPAP and HFNC
• Feeding tube care, hemodialysis post-care familiarity, and blood product administration
• Use of Rapid Response and Code teams with calm, decisive action
• Strong communication, teamwork, and patient ratio management skills
• Proficiency with EPIC charting and documentation best practices
• Wound care including Wound Vac and isolation precautions
