Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients using nutrition-focused physical exams and clinical judgment to create individualized care plans
• Implement and monitor enteral nutrition and oral supplement plans, adjusting as patients’ needs change
• Use order-writing privileges responsibly to add supplements, modify diets, and support timely nutrition interventions
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, SLPs, diabetes educators and case managers to coordinate care
• Document care clearly and efficiently in Meditech so the whole team stays informed
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and safe transitions home
• Support unit-level nutrition initiatives, quality improvement projects, and best-practice protocols
• Flexibly cover patients across the facility as needs arise, including occasional NICU support when needed

Qualifications

• Active Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential
• State dietitian licensure as required by Texas
• Minimum 1 year clinical experience (per job posting)
• Experience in critical care and working with adult and geriatric populations
• Comfortable with enteral nutrition management and nutrition-focused physical exams
• Proficiency with Meditech or similar EMR systems
• Order-writing experience or familiarity with collaborating on nutrition orders
• NICU experience is a nice-to-have and will be considered a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical dietetics and evidence-based nutrition care
• Nutrition-focused physical exams and nutrition assessment
• Enteral nutrition knowledge and troubleshooting
• Meditech EMR documentation and workflows
• Strong interdisciplinary communication and teamwork
• Ability to prioritize a patient caseload of approximately 10-15 patients/day
• Comfort using mobile communication tools for timely care coordination
