Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality bedside nursing care to Med/Surg patients on a 30-bed unit, focusing on assessment, interventions, and safe patient outcomes
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes quickly, and escalate care when needed—your vigilance matters
• Administer medications and treatments accurately while following facility protocols and safety checks
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient-centered care
• Maintain clear, timely documentation in the electronic medical record to support continuity of care
• Support patient and family education related to recovery and discharge plans, while clinical education duties are handled by the unit’s education team
• Participate in unit huddles and handoffs to ensure smooth transitions and consistent patient care
• Model a positive attitude and professional behavior to strengthen team morale and patient experience

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience, or experience at a Level 1 trauma center or a mid-to-large hospital
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Comfort working on a mixed Med/Surg unit with a typical ratio of 5-6:1
• Ability to maintain a positive, timely approach to patient care and teamwork
• Previous travel nurse experience is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong medical-surgical nursing knowledge and patient assessment skills
• Experience with trauma care principles or working in high-acuity settings
• Proficient in medication administration, IV therapy, and common Med/Surg procedures
• Effective clinical decision-making and prioritization under pressure
• Clear communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary staff
• Accurate documentation and familiarity with electronic medical record systems
