EEG Technician
Location: Portland, OR
Start Date: 03-02-2026
End Date: 06-22-2026
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (Day shift, 5x8). Block schedules required. Floating between units with rotating on-call coverage for weekdays and weekends (typically 2-4 weekdays/month and about 1 weekend every 6 weeks).
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $47 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized EEG studies across all ages — from neonates to geriatrics — in both inpatient and outpatient settings
- Place electrodes accurately and safely for routine, sleep-deprived, ambulatory, long-term monitoring, and video EEGs
- Conduct portable recordings in ICU, NICU and PICU settings when needed
- Perform brain death (ECI) testing per protocol
- Monitor patients during testing, recognize clinically significant events, and escalate concerns to the clinical team
- Document findings and chart care in Epic clearly and promptly
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (neuro/MDs, nursing, techs) to provide continuity of care
- Teach and support patients and families during testing to reduce anxiety and improve cooperation
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of EEG technologist experience (as listed in the job requirements)
- Required hands-on skills: ECI Brain Death testing, Electrode Placement, Portable Recording in ICU/NICU/PICU, Sleep Deprived EEG, Sleep EEG
- Preferred experience with Ambulatory EEG, Long Term Monitoring (LTM) and Video Monitoring
- BLS certification preferred
- Experience or comfort charting in Epic preferred
- Ability to float between units and cover rotating on-call shifts (weekday and weekend)
- Comfort working in a teaching hospital environment and with patients across the lifespan
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of EEG procedures: routine, sleep-deprived, ambulatory, LTM, EMU
- Competence with portable EEG equipment in critical care settings
- Familiarity with brain death testing protocols (ECI)
- Basic life support skills and patient safety awareness
- Good clinical judgment and ability to recognize abnormal EEG patterns
- Clear, concise documentation skills (Epic experience helpful)
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills in high-acuity settings
- Flexibility to adapt to varying patient populations and unit workflows
