Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Provide compassionate hands-on care and emotional support to geriatric residents
• Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
• Follow individualized care plans and document care accurately and timely
• Help with safe transfers and mobility assistance, using proper body mechanics
• Support communal activities to promote social engagement and quality of life
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for residents and visitors
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care

Qualifications

• GNA certification (required)
• Prior experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Ability to pass background check and required health screenings
• Strong communication skills and a patient, respectful demeanor
• Ability to perform physical aspects of the role, including lifting and assisting residents

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred; GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Compassionate bedside manner and ability to build rapport with older adults
• Basic knowledge of infection control and resident safety practices
• Familiarity with documentation and charting best practices
• Ability to follow care plans and escalate concerns appropriately
• Time management and teamwork in a fast-paced care environment
• Comfort with mobility assistance techniques and safe transfer protocols
