Roles & Responsibilities

• Circulate in the operating room to ensure patient safety and smooth case flow during neurosurgery and other specialty procedures
• Prepare the OR and equipment, including setup support for DaVinci robotic cases
• Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff to anticipate supplies and instrumentation needs
• Maintain sterile technique, perform counts, and manage instruments and supplies for efficient turnover
• Document perioperative care accurately and contribute to a high-volume caseload (approx. 250 surgeries/month)
• Advocate for patients by ensuring correct positioning, safety checks, and comfort throughout the perioperative process
• Support team development by sharing best practices and assisting colleagues during complex cases

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an OR Circulator; must be comfortable and experienced with neurosurgery (required)
• Experience supporting DaVinci robotic cases and multiple specialties including ortho, general, ophthalmology, podiatry, gyn, pain, urology, and hand
• Current state licensure as required by the facility (for example RN if applicable) and up-to-date basic life support credentials
• Perioperative certification such as CNOR is a plus
• Strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume surgical environment

Education

• Nursing degree or relevant perioperative training preferred (e.g., ADN/BSN or equivalent perioperative certification)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of sterile technique and OR aseptic principles
• Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and workflows across multiple specialties
• Comfortable supporting robotic surgery cases and troubleshooting setup with the team
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and maintain composure during back-to-back cases
• Clear communication with surgical teams and accurate perioperative documentation
