Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert respiratory care for neonates, infants and pediatric patients in NICU/PICU and Peds settings
• Manage and titrate mechanical ventilation, troubleshoot high-pressure alarms and lead weaning efforts
• Perform airway management including suctioning, intubation assist and tracheostomy care with precision
• Administer respiratory medications and set up aerosol/MDI/nebulizer delivery systems safely
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and adjust therapy based on clinical data
• Operate specialized respiratory equipment (Servo-I/Servo-N, Hamilton T1, HFO, Airvo HFNC, Smart Vest, Heliox)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams during high-risk neonatal deliveries and transports
• Document care accurately in EPIC and use unit systems like Pyxis for medication management

Qualifications

• Current NC state respiratory therapy license (required)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and current BLS; NRP and PALS required/preferred as listed
• Minimum 5 years of pediatric/neonatal respiratory therapy experience; NICU & PICU experience required
• Comfortable with travel assignments and previous travel experience preferred
• Competency with EPIC charting and Pyxis medication systems
• Ability to float across pediatric units and work nights; willing to work every third weekend

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management: IMV, SIMV, CPAP, BiPAP, high frequency oscillator (HFO)
• Neonatal support: Bubble CPAP, umbilical/capillary blood gases, neonatal transport skills
• Airway skills: endotracheal suctioning, intubation assist, tracheostomy management
• Medication & delivery systems: Albuterol, Nitric Oxide, nebulizers (handheld, T-piece, trach collar), MDI
• Advanced equipment: Servo-I, Servo-N, HOFV-3100, Hamilton T1, Airvo heated HFNC, Alaris IV pumps, Aerogen, Smart Vest
• Clinical judgment: ABG interpretation, chest physiotherapy, pulmonary hygiene and transport care
• Emergency readiness: experience in Pediatrics ED, PICU, and responding to neonatal high-risk deliveries
