Certified Nursing Assistant - Long Term Care
Location: Seward, AK
Start Date: 03-17-2026
End Date: 09-15-2026
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Variable 12-hour shifts (Traveler's choice: 4x12 or 3x12). Day shift: 07:00 AM - 07:00 PM; Night shift: 07:00 PM - 07:00 AM. Variable days, schedule may include weekends; caregiver will work either days or nights (not routinely required to rotate), occasional urgent rotation possible.
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $34 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility
- Obtain and document vital signs accurately and report abnormal findings promptly
- Perform glucose point-of-care testing and document results per protocol
- Practice infection control and proper use of PPE to keep residents and staff safe
- Perform safe patient transfers using Hoyer lift and skylifts and follow safe body mechanics
- Provide pressure injury prevention and routine skin care interventions
- Chart care and observations in the ECS system and communicate changes in condition to nursing leadership
- Support residents with dementia, Alzheimer's, TBI, and behavioral needs with compassion and patience
- Float within your scope to meet facility needs and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification or ability to provide valid out-of-state CNA license
- Alaska CNA license pending is acceptable if applicant has already submitted Alaska CNA application and can provide documentation of submission and required verifications
- Completion of a formal CNA training program with certificate or transcript required if AK license is pending
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of CNA experience, with Long Term Care experience required
- Previous travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
- Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility (locals not accepted)
- Willingness to work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) and adhere to RTO restrictions
- Valid driver's license and proof of insurance required if accepting facility-provided vehicle
Education
- Completion of an accredited CNA training program (certificate or transcript required)
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) assistance
- Vital signs monitoring including orthostatics and temperature methods
- Glucose point-of-care testing and glucometer use
- Oxygen tank management and pulse oximetry
- Infection control, donning and removing PPE, and isolation precautions
- Safe patient transfers and use of Hoyer/skylift equipment
- Pressure injury prevention and routine skin care
- ECS charting system proficiency and accurate documentation
- Recognizing and reporting changes in patient condition
- Experience caring for geriatric populations, dementia, Alzheimer's, and TBI patients
