Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group therapy to adults in a correctional/behavioral health setting, ensuring evidence-based interventions are used.
- Conduct psychological assessments, risk screenings, and ongoing treatment planning to support measurable patient progress.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including nursing, custody staff, and case management to coordinate comprehensive care.
- Document clinical encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately and timely to meet regulatory and facility standards.
- Deliver crisis intervention and de-escalation support when needed, prioritizing safety and therapeutic outcomes.
- Advocate for patient needs within the facility and connect individuals to community resources and continuity-of-care options.
Qualifications
- Active LMFT, Psychologist (PSY), LCSW, or LPCC license (eligible to practice in the state where the facility operates).
- Clinical experience in mental health settings—experience with serious mental illness, group therapy, or correctional populations is a strong plus.
- Comfort with thorough documentation and adherence to facility policies and confidentiality standards.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to manage crisis situations and provide trauma-informed care.
Education
- Master's degree (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC) or Doctoral degree (Psychologist) in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid grounding in mental health diagnosis, assessment, and evidence-based therapeutic approaches
- Skilled in individual and group psychotherapy techniques
- Familiarity with crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, and safety planning
- Competent documentation and electronic health record usage
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and communicate clearly with both clinical and non-clinical staff
