Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents with respect and dignity
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report observations to nursing staff
- Support safe mobility and fall prevention through proper transfer techniques and assistance
- Document care activities accurately and timely to maintain clear resident records
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families to enhance quality of life
Qualifications
- Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) or equivalent state certification required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Prior experience working with older adults or in long-term care settings is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-focused approach
- Ability to pass background checks and any required facility screenings
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and elder needs
- Skill in safe resident handling, transfers, and fall prevention
- Comfortable with documentation and following care plans
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary care team
- Good observational skills to notice subtle changes in resident condition
