Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living for geriatric residents
• Support safe mobility: assist with transfers, walking, and positioning while using proper body mechanics
• Observe residents closely, report changes in condition, and communicate effectively with nursing staff
• Help create a warm, dignified environment by assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, and mealtime
• Document care accurately and timely, following facility policies and maintaining resident confidentiality
• Engage residents in meaningful conversation and activity to support emotional well-being and quality of life

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification in the state of Maryland
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Comfort working with older adults and a patient, respectful approach to care
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow facility procedures and infection control practices
• Valid ID and the ability to complete required facility onboarding and background checks
• Previous long-term care or geriatric experience is a plus but caring attitude and solid training matter most

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a state-approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assisting with ADLs: bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and feeding
• Understanding of infection control, hand hygiene, and basic safety protocols
• Ability to observe, document, and communicate resident changes clearly and professionally
• Familiarity with resident dignity and privacy practices, and basic charting skills
• Strong interpersonal skills: empathy, patience, and the ability to work as part of a care team
