Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
• Accurately record resident observations and care provided in charts and electronic records
• Support nursing staff with vital signs, basic assessments, and timely reporting of changes
• Help create a safe, clean and comfortable environment while following infection control protocols
• Communicate clearly and kindly with residents and families to promote trust and continuity of care
• Participate in care planning and team huddles to ensure coordinated, high-quality care

Qualifications

• GNA certification (required) — active and in good standing
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Valid state-required immunizations and TB screening per facility policy
• Ability to pass background check and drug screen as required
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus but new grads with GNA certs are welcome
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completed Geriatric Nursing Assistant training/certificate program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Comfort assisting with ADLs and safe patient transfers
• Basic charting and documentation skills
• Infection control, hand hygiene, and PPE best practices
• Teamwork mindset and ability to follow care plans
• Good observational skills to notice and report changes in resident condition
