Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled therapeutic interventions under the direction of a licensed PT to help patients regain mobility and function
- Deliver compassionate one-on-one care and educate patients and families on home programs
- Document patient progress clearly and timely in the electronic medical record
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to create and adjust treatment plans
- Assist with safe transfers, gait training, and therapeutic modalities as appropriate
- Participate in team huddles and contribute to continuous quality improvement
Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in good standing with the state of Virginia
- Completion of an accredited PTA program (associate degree or equivalent)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification
- Active immunizations and ability to pass background and drug screening per facility policy
- Excellent communication skills and a patient-centered approach
- Previous experience in outpatient or post-acute rehab settings preferred
Education
- Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong clinical skills in therapeutic exercise, gait training, and transfers
- Familiarity with documentation best practices and EMR systems
- Ability to adapt treatment plans based on patient progress and therapist direction
- Good time management and prioritization in a fast-paced rehab environment
- Comfort collaborating with nurses, case managers, and families
