Roles & Responsibilities
- Administer medications accurately and safely for residents per facility policy
- Provide compassionate overnight resident care, monitoring well-being and comfort
- Document resident status, medication administration, and any incidents clearly
- Observe and report changes in condition to nursing leadership and care team
- Support residents with activities of daily living during overnight hours as needed
- Collaborate with CNAs, RNs, and interdisciplinary staff to ensure continuity of care
- Respond to resident needs and emergent situations with calm, timely action
Qualifications
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in New York (or ability to obtain)
- Previous experience in medication administration and overnight resident care preferred
- Comfortable working in memory care or dementia-focused settings
- Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to shift start)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently during overnight shifts
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
Education
- Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program (LPN diploma or equivalent)
Knowledge & Skills
- Medication administration and accurate charting
- Dementia-aware care techniques and de-escalation strategies
- Basic assessment skills: vitals, skin checks, recognizing change in condition
- Time management and prioritization during overnight coverage
- Team communication and clear handoff reporting
- Infection control and safe handling practices
