Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, helping with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and mobility.
- Observe and report changes in residents' conditions to the nursing team to ensure timely care decisions.
- Assist with safe transfers and toileting, using proper body mechanics and lift equipment when needed.
- Support mealtime assistance and encourage proper nutrition and hydration.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment for residents and their families.
- Help create warm, person-centered moments that preserve dignity and quality of life for geriatric residents.
Qualifications
- Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in New York required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain.
- Comfort working with geriatric populations and long-term care residents.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; a positive, patient-first attitude.
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements.
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is preferred but not mandatory — we welcome dedicated newcomers.
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required.
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of safe patient handling and infection prevention practices.
- Familiarity with basic vital sign monitoring and documentation.
- Ability to follow care plans and communicate observations clearly.
- Compassionate interpersonal skills for working with residents and families.
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs during busy shifts.
