Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct non‑treatment Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments with compassion and accuracy
- Perform interview‑based medical evaluations and focused physical assessments, including range of motion and muscle strength testing
- Document exam findings clearly and submit timely, high‑quality reports and any required addendums
- Provide objective medical opinions and read diagnostic studies as needed to support exam conclusions
- Follow client practice descriptions and workflows to ensure consistent, compliant exams
- Communicate respectfully with Veterans and coordinate follow‑up administrative tasks related to the encounter
- Maintain required credentials and complete onboarding/training promptly
Qualifications
- Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) license (state licensure appropriate to assignment) — current and in good standing
- Clinical background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine
- Experience or comfort performing interview‑based exams and focused physical assessments (range of motion, muscle strength testing)
- Documented ability to produce clear, timely medical reports and addendums
- Comfort with non‑treatment evaluations (no prescribing or ongoing treatment required)
- Ability to complete required onboarding and credentialing in a timely fashion
- PRN or per‑diem experience is a plus
Education
- Master’s in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with NP certification (or equivalent NP credential)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong interview and clinical assessment skills for one‑time evaluations
- Proficiency in documenting exams and writing concise medical opinions
- Familiarity with non‑treatment exam protocols and objective testing (ROM, strength testing)
- Good diagnostic reading skills and ability to summarize findings
- Excellent communication and time‑management skills to handle clinic flow and follow‑up admin work
- Comfort using electronic portals and completing required online trainings
